  1. These last two trigger sensory memories.

  2. Mm, I remember you saying that about a piece before...it was a poofsie. I'll have to look for it. Specific memories, huh?

  3. Oh, I might be thinking of the one that you said....oh gosh, I might be too tired to get this right, but water going up your nose? which made complete sense to me. Though I think you've also talked about sensory memories before, something in one piece -- visual obviously -- triggering sensory memories.

I think back then, as now, it made me think of Charles Burchfield writing about hearing flowers and painting what he heard -- those zigzag lines, if you know the paintings I'm talking about. God, I love him. I remember wishing for that kind of nature connection when I first read that many years ago.

  5. Can't find it right now. The one I was thinking of was this: http://notpaintings.blogspot.com/2009/11/collage-4-x-5_05.html#comments But that's about childhood reminder/memory. It's another one then. Ok, are these enough comments in a row by me? Hmmmm.

  6. Oh and yes, Burchfield. wonderful. I saw his show at the Hammer a few years ago. I loved the shot they used of his studio. It looked like a cave.

  7. Thanks, MAH. Somehow I don't think I ever saw a picture of Burchfield's studio until just now looking it up.

  8. I posted earlier but didn't I guess. Yes, these often remind me of sensation memories from childhood. Water up the nose feeling - heh, that's funny. I can laugh at my own observations if I don't remember making them, right?
