Collage, 4" x 4" x

  1. I said this elsewhere but will also post here:

Whoa. It's simultaneously fierce and "cute" ... but more fierce ... the figure struggling to differentiate from the field. I have felt that about some of the other collages too, a tension between an element or elements pulling forward and the pattern or background pulling it/them "back" or into an integrated field, but this is the first one I've seen where there is a sentient being depicted ... drowning or emerging or just coming out to offer a flailing embrace ...

  2. Wow, thanks, smartins. I found him on the beach.

Are you called "smart" for short?

  4. Well, yes, infinite grains of sand . .. oh, no, I'm foggy -- is that a reference to something? Oh, God, it's probably some popular song that everyone within 30 years of my age knows. I'm pre-embarrassed.

  5. (You know, one of my screen names is NSpector, which I didn't even realize was a "word" until someone asked me months after I made it up if I was some kind of inspector. It's just my first initial with my middle name.)

  6. I saw on facebook, and came here intending to chuckle over it. But by golly, it works as a real piece. How do you do that?

(I mean this to read differently, but all my good word thoughts are hiding.)

  7. Carla, you have a surplus of good word thoughts. Plus, I like these words, especially "by golly."
