yes Carla, I can see that, and yet the word "apparition" also comes to mind, perhaps because it is not an all-over field. There is stuff in it, things. I mean it leans towards alloverness, but holds back, and yet that holding back is nothing but assertive.
It's the "treat, then challenge" delivery of the group. Many of these offer instant delight (and more, as one lingers over them). Then you throw in one like this, which dispenses with ooos and aaahs, and is rather confrontational about what it is.
I showed an image of this one to my painting teacher in 2010, one of the very few times I've seen him since finishing school. He said it looked like it could be a slide of syphilis. He isn't the sort to say that kind of thing. It really stuck with me.
